(HealthDay News) -- If your tooth is throbbing in pain for a long period, or you feel shooting pain when you bite down, this could indicate a problem tooth or something more serious.
The U.S. National Library of Medicine says a toothache could be caused by:
- Tooth decay and/or a cavity.
- An abscess.
- Sinusitis.
- An earache.
- An injury to the mouth or jaw.
- A heart attack, which may also be accompanied by pain in the neck or jaw.
