Recognizing Signs of Glaucoma

(HealthDay News) -- The term glaucoma includes a host of eye conditions that damage the optic nerve, which carries information about what you see to the brain.

The U.S. National Library of Medicine says glaucoma may have these symptoms:

  • Development of tunnel vision, which is characterized by loss of side (peripheral) vision.
  • Sudden and extreme pain that affects only one eye.
  • Vision that clouds up or otherwise worsens.
  • Vomiting and nausea.
  • Seeing a rainbow-colored halo around lights. Or having a sensitivity to light.
  • A feeling of swelling or redness of the eye.
