Whenever the States or Feds raise the taxes on cigarettes no one complains much. Sure there is some grumbling at bars and tobacco shops but the general public could not be happier. To many nonsmokers it is great that the state punish something they don’t like & if it fill a tax short fall that’s even better. But money not health is the real intent. A government can't keep up with all it promises to this group or that so they find those soft spots where they can squeeze a few more dollars out of. Just a reminder tax something too much and you will get resistance. The British learned that with their Stamp Act!

Re: Taxing "Sin"
I smoked for 15 years untill my state banned it just about everywhere I went and raised its tax so much that it was either smoke or eat. Any barrer to smoking is good in the long run for peoples health, but we should all be treated like adults.

If you’re worried about the taxes come down the south there cheap down here. Let the Yankee states do what they will, or if you really have to you could grow your tobacco leafs.
